Populism is renouncing the 'white bread', I am donating it to the socially vulnerable

While there is a public debate on whether politicians should or should not receive the so-called "white bread", I have decided to apply for this right that the law allows me, not to use it for personal interests, but so that at least this "white bread" would provide for those living in difficult social conditions, wrote Mirza Ustamujić, former federal MP and recently a member of the Democratic Front, on his Facebook profile, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- Immediately after the payment of the first installment from the budget, the entire amount will be paid to the account of public kitchens to secure hundreds of white breads for their users, as well as all subsequent payments until the right to compensation expires.

Due to the general distrust in our system, which will certainly not redirect budget funds to the right addresses, to the most vulnerable families, I consider this a moral act that is more effective than empty populist renunciation of the right to compensation after the mandate of MPs expires.

I advocate for the abolition of the "white bread", but exclusively with a precise provision that these funds from the budget be directed to help vulnerable citizens.

Do not consider me a populist or Robin Hood, nor a good or bad politician because of this. The attitude towards our most vulnerable fellow citizens defines me as a human being and all of us as we once were and as we all should be in these difficult times, Bosnians and Herzegovinians, ordinary people with good intentions - Ustamujić's comment concludes.
