Paving of Baščaršija Square to begin on October 5

The Mayor of Old Town Municipality Sarajevo, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and the Director of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency in BiH (TIKA), Fatih Karaca, signed a Protocol on cooperation for the project "Paving of Baščaršija Square" today, which is expected to begin on October 5, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The value of the project is around 1.1 million KM, and the works are expected to last 120 days, the Old Town Municipality announced.

The project will be jointly financed by the Old Town Municipality and the Turkish Osmangazi Municipality from Bursa. Otherwise, paving the main square in Baščaršija will restore its previous appearance, as the current yellow clinker tiles were laid in the 1970s during the time of Yugoslavia.

Baščaršija Square will be paved with stone slabs, similar to Sarači and Bravadžiluk streets. Thus, what many consider the most beautiful part of Sarajevo will get a similar look, and movement will be facilitated, especially during the winter period.
