Floods have endangered up to 20,000 jobs, but we have business potential

The situation on the labor market is extremely difficult at this moment, and after the natural disaster and floods that hit BiH, 10, 15, or perhaps even 20 thousand jobs are realistically endangered, said Adnan Delić, director of the BiH Agency for Labor and Employment, for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Speaking about the upcoming international conference on employment, which will be held on July 1, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the World Academy of Art and Science, Delić emphasized that this conference will provide an additional step forward where they will also have their presentation.

- All conclusions presented by science and experts, and employers on the other hand, will be implemented into legal solutions that will be sent to parliaments. Certainly, such a conference can be useful given that programs for preserving existing jobs, successful stories in BiH from businessmen, and BiH's potentials for creating new jobs in the coming period will be presented – says Delić.

He emphasizes that these are certainly agriculture, electricity production, tourism, and the wood industry.

The goal of the conference, titled „Conference on Employment Growth – On the Path to Recovery“, is to highlight that unemployment and the economic crisis represent the biggest problems and dangers facing humanity today. Through concrete examples and projects, possible directions for solving the unemployment problem in BiH and the region will be pointed out.

The conference participants will be addressed, among others, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Zlatko Lagumdžija, the Director General of the World Academy of Art and Science Garry Jacobs, the Honorary President of the World Academy of Art and Science Academician Ivo Šlaus, the Director of the World Bank in BiH Anabela Abreu, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH Ambassador Peter Sorensen, the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in BiH Yuri Afanasiev, and other domestic and international experts in the field of labor and employment, Patria reports.
