(Patria) - Ismet Ovčina, director of the National and University Library (NUB) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, retired today, the NUB Employees' Council announced.
However, they add, he unilaterally paid himself severance pay even though there was no money in the institution's account for this purpose. At the same time, employees have not received their August salaries because there are insufficient funds.
"After months of struggle by NUB BiH, which the entire public is aware of, related to resolving the legal and financial status of the institution, as well as the retirement of director Ismet Ovčina, as of today, September 6, 2024, we inform the public that Ovčina has retired after a full 19-year term.
We note that employees have not received their August salary because there are insufficient funds in the NUB BiH account; however, Ismet Ovčina independently and unilaterally paid himself severance pay for retirement, even though there were no funds in the institution's account for this purpose.
In any case, we consider this action by Ovčina to be extremely unfair and immoral towards the employees," the statement from the NUB BiH Employees' Council emphasized.
