Another rise in air pollutant particles

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The values of air pollutant particles have risen again today. The air quality index in Sarajevo is 184, and PM10 is 146.  Increased symptoms and intensity of illness may occur in people with heart and respiratory diseases, such as asthma. All others may begin to feel the negative impact of pollution on health.

The following groups should reduce any outdoor physical activities: lung and heart patients, pregnant women, children, and the elderly. Prolonged or greater exertion while staying outdoors should also be avoided by everyone else.

The air is unhealthy in Tuzla, Zenica, Lukavac, Visoko, and Jajce. 

In the Sarajevo Canton, the Cantonal Government has revoked the Warning measure, while keeping the Preparedness measure in effect. Ekoakcija warned yesterday that due to the lack of legal regulations and the inaction of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is not clearly prescribed that cities can declare an alert when there is excessive air pollution. Only the Sarajevo Canton can do this, and only when the values of pollutant particles are very high.
