Trial start postponed again for those accused in the death of Džena Gadžun

(Patria) - The start of the trial of Suad Rožajac, Jasmina Halimić-Alajbegović, and Nina Jovanović, doctors accused in the death of the girl Džena Gadžun from Kakanj, has been postponed. The hearing was scheduled for today at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo.

The start of the trial was previously scheduled for November 16, but was postponed due to the judge's illness, and the hearing before that was postponed due to the absence of the lawyer of one of the accused doctors.

The indictment in the case of Džena Gadžun's death was confirmed on July 11 this year.

Anesthesiologist Rožajac is accused of a serious criminal offense against human health and the criminal offense of negligent treatment, while ophthalmologists Jovanović and Halimić-Alajbegović are charged with the criminal offense of abuse of position or authority.

All three recently denied guilt for the charges brought against them before the Cantonal Court.

Let us remind you, Džena Gadžun underwent surgery in November 2021 at the private clinic "Bejtović" in Sarajevo. Complications arose during the surgery, and she died on November 14, 2021, at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo.

Benjamin Bejtović, the owner of the private clinic where the surgery was performed after which the two-year-old girl died, has not been charged.
