Repeated elections in Stolac: Polling stations opened at 7 AM

Polling stations in Stolac opened this morning at 7 AM for repeated elections for mayor and Municipal Council after they were interrupted on October 2, 2016, due to a series of incidents, writes Patria. Polling stations will be open until 7 PM, and the first results are expected at 10 PM.

The election process is being monitored by members of the Central Election Commission and the Coalition Under the Magnifying Glass. Members of the MUP HNK are also present on the streets of Stolac. The Initiative for Stolac previously announced that they would boycott the elections because the candidate for mayor, Salmir Kaplan, was removed from the list.

The president of the Municipal Election Commission in Stolac, Jozo Matić, stated that all polling stations are open and that everything is proceeding according to plan.

In the local elections in Stolac, elections are being held at 24 polling stations, of which 19 are regular, one for absentee voting, and four mobile teams. 11,404 voters have the right to vote, of whom 10,012 are regular voters.

The candidates for mayor are Stjepan Bošković (HDZ BiH) and Mato Komšić (independent candidate).
