Let's Pray to the OHR

It can be said that one of the biggest post-war aggressions on the economic sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina is underway.

Croatia, without the knowledge of official Sarajevo, is concluding a gas supply agreement with the Russian oil refinery in Bosanski Brod. In the east of the country, Vučić and Dodik are delineating the border between Bosnia and Serbia. Thus, in both cases, the calculation is made without the innkeeper.

Bosniak politicians in power are, in the meantime, preoccupied with internal party turmoil. They have no time for the state. SDA is fighting on multiple factional fronts, mostly quarreling over personnel appointments in public companies in those parts of the Federation where Bosniaks are the majority. All of them are fighting against SBB. SBB attacks the state, they defend it. And vice versa.

Croatia announces that for the health of its own citizens in the Posavina region of Brod, it will supply the polluting Russian refinery on the Bosnian bank with clean HDZ gas from General Čermak. The fact that experts warn that the entire Federation will be left without the necessary amounts of gas simply because the project started from the tail instead of the head – it should have probably been necessary to first build the main gas pipeline to Zenica, and leave a branch for the Refinery – is of interest only to journalists in Sarajevo.

Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović unequivocally stated at a press conference that Croatia should have contacted Bosnia and Herzegovina in the case of the gasification of the Russian refinery in Bosanski Brod, but it did not. No one knows what the consequences of Croatia behaving like a bull in a china shop in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be. The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is also silent, although it is competent to conduct the country's foreign policy.

Čović, clearly, is covering Dodik's back and the HDZ tycoons. Ivanić – without delving into how he would decide if he had an election – has found himself in a very unenviable political position. It is enough for him to even mention the Refinery, and Dodik will declare him a traitor to Serbian-Russian interests, from which, it is clear to the naked eye, only Dodik and the Russians profit. Bakir will react, God willing.

Indicatively, but factually synchronized, BiH is simultaneously facing pressure from its eastern neighbors. Dodik and Vučić from Belgrade are saying that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be fairly demarcated with Serbia on the Drina. The upper part of the Drina's energy potential, i.e., the part around Bajina Bašta and Zvornik, will go to the Serbs, the second, lower part of the Drina will go to the Serbs, and what remains can be divided among the Serbs themselves.

Bosnia and Herzegovina currently has only one joker up its sleeve. If the left in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina were to close ranks, and if SBB, which is certainly winking at it this summer, were to support them, and if they all took a state-building stance on these issues, Bosnia and Herzegovina would have some prospects of defending itself, at least until the elections next year, when the opportunity to save the country from retrograde policies is greater than ever.

If that does not happen, we can only look to the sky and pray to the OHR.
