Assistance in Treating Patients with Leukemia, Hepatitis and Other Serious Diseases

Through the Service for Labor, Health and Social Affairs, refugees and displaced persons of the Centar Municipality co-finance the purchase of medicines for the treatment of serious diseases such as leukemia, hepatitis type B and C, regardless of the total household income. In this year's municipal budget, an amount of 45,000 KM has been planned for this purpose, reports the Patria news agency.

-Based on the proposal of the Health Insurance Institute of Sarajevo Canton, the beneficiary submits a request to our service with an invoice for the medicine issued by one of the pharmacies in the Federation of BiH. These are usually medicines that are not on the essential list and are extremely expensive. During this year, eight requests from beneficiaries for co-financing the purchase of medicines were approved, for which 25,776 KM was allocated.

The competent Service for Labor, Health and Social Affairs makes a conclusion on the allocation of funds and we transfer the money to the account of the pharmacy that issued the invoice for the medicines.

According to the provisions of the Rulebook on the distribution of funds for granting one-time financial assistance to persons in need, the approved grants for this purpose this year ranged from 1,000 to 7,000 KM, said Mersida Veiz, expert associate in the field of social protection in the Service for Labor, Health and Social Affairs, refugees and displaced persons of the Centar Municipality.
