Aid to Flood Victims: Mayor of Orašje Presents Certificate of Appreciation to Bećirević

The Centar Sarajevo Municipal Council, at the proposal of Mayor Dževad Bećirević, last year in May approved an amount of 500,000 KM to assist local communities affected by severe floods. From these funds, aid was provided to more than 40 local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Patria news agency.

One of the local communities that received aid at that time was the Orašje Municipality, for which 20,000 marks were allocated. As an expression of gratitude for the help in the most difficult moments, the Mayor of Orašje Municipality, Đuro Topić, visited where he was hosted by Mayor Bećirević.

According to Topić, the municipal administration, as well as the residents of Orašje, have not forgotten those who were among the first to come to their aid.

-This year we decided to visit and thank those who came to our aid when we were in trouble. We thank Mayor Bećirević and everyone who participated in the decision to allocate 20,000 marks to the Orašje Municipality, which we used primarily for the restoration of residential buildings. In the May floods, 2,170 buildings were damaged in Orašje.

The Centar Municipality is in a way the capital of BiH and through its example has shown that it has a sense for every part of our country, and this should be an example to all of us to help each other. I believe that the move by Mayor Bećirević and the Centar Municipality at that time encouraged others to help everyone who found themselves in a difficult situation. I am confident that we will continue our cooperation in the future, Topić emphasized.

At the end, Topić presented Mayor Bećirević with a certificate of appreciation for the assistance in mitigating the consequences and helping the population of Orašje after the floods in May 2014, the Centar Municipality announced.
