Flowers laid at the site of the massacre in front of 'Safvet-beg Bašagić' Elementary School

(Patria) - Paying respects and laying flowers, the 31st anniversary of the massacre in front of the 'Safvet-beg Bašagić' Elementary School, where eight citizens of Sarajevo were killed by a grenade from the Army of Republika Srpska, was marked today.

On December 14, 1993, a 120 mm mortar grenade was fired from aggressor positions on Vraca, which exploded at the intersection of Gimnazijska Street and Obala Kulina bana, killing: Vildana Avdić, Dina Čomor, Rusmir Čopelj, Azra Hanić, Lejla and Razija Jahić, Amir Krivić, and Dina Šipilović. Ten other people were seriously or lightly injured at the time.

The tribute to the Sarajevans was paid by the families of the victims and fellow citizens, representatives of the Canton, the municipalities of Centar and Stari Grad, the Union of Civil War Victims of the Sarajevo Canton, and the Association of Parents of Killed Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, as well as students and representatives of the Secondary Mechanical-Technical School and the 'Safvet-beg Bašagić' Elementary School.

From this place, a message was sent that the people of Sarajevo do not forget their murdered fellow citizens and continue to seek justice for all the terrible crimes committed during the thousand-day siege of Sarajevo.
