Flowers laid at Alija Izetbegović's grave, no other SDA officials present except Bakir

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Alija Izetbegović, the first President of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the first President of the Party of Democratic Action, his son Bakir Izetbegović, the current President of the SDA and a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, visited the grave of the late president in Kovači, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria. However, apart from Izetbegović, no other SDA officials were present.

- Not far from this place, my mother grew up, and my father near Inat House. During World War II, he was 18 years old and was a deserter regarding that obligation in the NDH. He could not move around, so he would move at night or during bombings to see her, to court. Others were afraid of shells, but they were happy, because then everyone would withdraw from the streets. They sat on benches, because this was a park then, not a martyrs' cemetery - Izetbegović recounted.

In October, it will be 12 years since the death of Alija Izetbegović, and by then a project should be completed that will include excerpts from President Izetbegović's books, which will be read by renowned Bosnian actors.

- This will bring Alija's strong thought closer to people. He spent nine years in prisons and eight in wars. He had a difficult but heroic life - Izetbegović concluded.

Flowers at the Kovači cemetery, besides member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović, were also laid by a delegation of the SDA Youth Association led by President Salko Zildžić.
