Political Sexuality among Bosniaks

The foundation of every society is morality, especially of those in power who decide the fate of people and the state. These days we have once again hit rock bottom of that political morality in two cases. Sexuality in Bosniak politics is very diverse. We had the opportunity to see a conversation of that Krajina tomcat, who offers a woman a job for a sexual act. The matter allegedly happened five years ago, and he still claims he was only joking. He made the offer while on duty, and what he said was humiliating for the woman across from him. The Krajina tomcat is not important if we know that Bosniak political sexuality has long spiraled out of control and has become common in the actions of mostly primitive local power holders.

Imagine promoting a national project: One hundred thousand sexual acts for the same number of jobs. Morality is a public matter, especially when it is handed over.

Let's take another parallel example: This year, the Nobel Prize in Literature will not be awarded due to a sexual scandal involving the husband of the Academy's chairwoman. The chairwoman of the Academy resigned, and several other members joined her.

Where is our moral response? The case of the Krajina tomcat shows that there are no criteria for entering the political waters. We are a state where even cleaners and janitors are required to know a foreign language, while nothing is required from politicians. Not even a certificate of mental or psychological health. At one time, there was talk that the mental health of politicians should be examined before running for a certain position. True, this is not done even in developed and democratic societies, but Bosnia and Herzegovina seems like the right place for such checks. Because this country cannot progress without moral norms and clear political morality. Politics must show modesty, honesty, and dedication, not as before, arrogance, haughtiness, and corruption of all kinds. We have long been casually looking at the public immorality of politicians and behaving as if it is normal. We have submissively accepted this devastating public lie and have not yet declared war on it. Sweden and other civilized countries are three of our lifetimes away from us.

Politics is the source of most of our troubles. Just today, May 11, it was announced that representatives of 14 political parties will sign a protocol on cooperation for fair and honest elections in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goals of this protocol are to prevent manipulation of voters' will before, during, and after the election process. What is not in the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina must be agreed upon and signed.

What have we had so far? We have an Election Law that only requires honesty, impartiality, balanced reporting, and professionalism from journalists of electronic media during the campaign. The Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina does not require anything similar from parties and political bullies during the campaign.

The Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina clearly and precisely treats public statements: "It is not allowed for parties to use language that could incite or encourage someone to violence or spread hatred..." "Whoever publicly incites or stirs up national, racial, or religious hatred, discord, or intolerance among constituent peoples and others in Bosnia and Herzegovina..." and "whoever commits this criminal offense by abusing their position or authority, shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of one to ten years."

Thanks to the incomplete Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, spreading hatred and fear wins elections. We know of numerous examples of political expressions of hatred, but we do not know that any responsibility has been sought from such politicians. The prosecutor's offices have long not done what they must and do not adhere to the prescribed "principle of legality of criminal prosecution."

That is precisely why we have unpunished public lies and the empire of double standards on the scene. And we still do not declare war on them.
