Political Crisis in BiH: Next Meeting of the Troika Coalition to Be Scheduled for Next Week

(Patria) - The imposition of amendments to the Election Law of BiH by High Representative Christian Schmidt has caused complications within the current coalition at the level of the Council of Ministers of BiH. While from the HDZ they called on political representatives to reach an agreement themselves, in the BiH entity of RS on Thursday they held two sessions of the National Assembly of RS, where they adopted a series of conclusions on the imposed Election Law, as well as on the adoption of the Election Law of RS, the draft of which has already been adopted and goes to public consultation for 15 days.

The President of the SDP, Nermin Nikšić, who together with NIP and Our Party forms the government at the state level, said that it is evident that we have entered a political crisis.

"It is evident that it will take us a lot of time to return to the paths we were on a few days ago. I sincerely hope, and today (yesterday, ed.) the Troika tried to send a message that we continue talking, that we use this period until the second part of the Election Law proclaimed by the High Representative comes into force – to try to reach a solution ourselves. Whether this will be met with understanding by other parties, we will see. After the Easter holidays, since we are the next hosts, we will try to organize such a meeting," said Nikšić on Thursday on the Dnevnik D FTV program.

Nikšić assessed that the political climate in BiH is not pleasant.

"You have constant bickering and ultimatums, which cannot pass on a serious political scene. And this past period has shown that when you talk, you reach a certain compromise. In this way, we are certainly not ready to talk, but we are ready to seek ways to get out of the crisis," he stated.

He also commented on Milorad Dodik's statement in which he called the Troika political liars.

"I don't know what he meant. We never hid that we are ready for dialogue and compromise, but we also did not hide that we will not give in when it comes to the interests of citizens and BiH. In this period, we have not changed our stance and opinion. I would rather that we had managed to agree and that we had passed the election law. But we need to be aware that there is a High Representative and that he has his own powers which he uses as he sees fit," explained Nikšić.

Next week, the trial of Milorad Dodik and Miloš Lukić for failure to implement the decisions of the High Representative in BiH continues before the Court of BiH, and whether the coalition meeting will be held on that day will be known on April 3.
