Police prevent fight outside Banovići Municipality building

(Patria) - A scuffle broke out in front of the Banovići Municipality building this morning. As announced, the new majority in the Municipal Council, comprising 14 councilors, announced for today at eight o'clock in the morning, their entry into the premises of the Council's Professional Service, located in the Municipality building.

Let us recall, after the Mayor of Banovići Municipality, Bego Gutić (SDA), via his Facebook profile, called on the citizens of Banovići for an organized gathering and welcome in front of the Banovići Municipality building this morning at 7:30 AM, due to the announced forceful entry into the Municipality by PDA members Sifet Ikanović, Žunić Edin, Kovačević Nermin, and others, the police intervened due to the events in front of the Banovići Municipality building.

The new majority in the Banovići Municipal Council, led by Mirsad Kukić's Democratic Action Movement (PDA), at a session held on July 6, adopted an initiative to initiate the procedure for the recall of the mayor, Bego Gutić. At that time, a decision to call a referendum was also adopted, by which the citizens of Banovići will vote on the mayor's recall on August 5. More than 20 days have passed since that session, and the decisions they made have not yet been certified with a seal, therefore they cannot be implemented.

The SDA called on the competent institutions in the Tuzla Canton to react adequately and ensure the normal and lawful functioning of local government, and to prevent unfortunate scenes that were nevertheless recorded this morning in Banovići despite everything. On the other hand, the new majority claims that they have been waiting for police assistance in the previous days, which would enable them to enter the Municipality building where the premises of the Professional Service of the Banovići Municipal Council are located.

A verbal argument and scuffle occurred in front of the Banovići Municipality building this morning. The entire situation was on the verge of a physical conflict. One woman felt unwell and was taken by ambulance, and another complained of an injured arm. The situation was brought under control only when colleagues from the special support unit of the MUP of TK joined the police officers.
