Brčko District Police found 31 children aged up to 12 without BiH documents, three arrested

(Patria) - In the Brčko District area, 31 children aged 0 to 12 were found, and members of the Brčko District Police arrested three individuals on suspicion of committing criminal offenses of "Human Trafficking", "Child Trafficking", and "Neglect or Abuse of a Child".

According to FTV, among those arrested are a court police officer and his mother. The children do not have BiH documents.

This operation was carried out under the supervision of the Brčko District Prosecutor's Office, and the children were placed in a safe location with the assistance of the Department for Social Protection and the Red Cross.

"While carrying out activities within their jurisdiction, police officers of the Brčko District Police of BiH, on 02/25/2025, under the supervision of the Brčko District Prosecutor's Office of BiH and in cooperation with the Department for Social Protection of Brčko District of BiH, and the Red Cross of Brčko District of BiH, found a number of children and placed them in a safe location.

Within the activities carried out so far, three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of "Human Trafficking" under Article 207a, "Child Trafficking" under Article 207b, and "Neglect or Abuse of a Child" under Article 216 in conjunction with Article 31 of the Criminal Code of Brčko District of BiH. The investigation into the mentioned incident is ongoing.

Bearing in mind the legal provisions for handling criminal cases against perpetrators of offenses against children and minors, as well as the universal rights of the child, we remind of the obligation to proceed with particular care in order to avoid further harmful consequences and protect the child's interest," the Brčko District Police announced.
