Brčko District Police still determining identities of found children, in contact with institutions from Croatia and Serbia

(Patria) - Goran Pisić, head of the Brčko District Police, told 24sata that "until urgent measures are completed, we will not release any statements or information" regarding the shocking case of child trafficking in Brčko.

- We are in contact with various diplomatic bodies in BiH and with the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Croatia, we have contacts with police forces outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are closely cooperating with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia, we are very grateful to them for their assistance in urgent checks, said Goran Pisić, head of the Brčko District Police.

- The well-being of children is most important, that is a legal category that we must protect under special circumstances. We cannot confirm that they are all Croatian citizens, we are working on determining the identities of the children. We have determined some identities, and some we have not, Pisić told the same media.

He did not want to confirm the information that a court police officer and his mother were among those arrested, as reported by some media.

- Bearing in mind the legal provisions for proceedings in criminal cases against perpetrators of criminal offenses against children and minors, as well as universal children's rights, we remind of the obligation to proceed with particular caution, in order to avoid further harmful consequences and protect the child's interest, it was previously announced by the Brčko District Police of BiH.

Three people have been arrested in connection with this horrific case, and the found children are between 0 and 12 years old.
