Flower laying and tribute mark November 25 - Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Numerous delegations today laid flowers and paid tribute at several locations to mark November 25 Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Representatives of the City, Canton, municipalities, veterans' associations, as well as citizens of Sarajevo paid tribute to all fallen victims and recalled the achievements of ZAVNOBiH.

Vice President of the Federation of BiH, Milan Dunović, emphasized that November 25 is a significant date in history, as BiH had to defend its statehood in the most difficult periods.

"At the first session of ZAVNOBiH, it was stated that BiH is not Serbian, nor Croatian, nor Muslim, but rather Serbian, Croatian, and Muslim," said Dunović.

Mayor Ivo Komšić emphasized that November 25 has remained a very significant date in the collective consciousness of citizens across BiH.

"When 72 years ago, in the anti-fascist struggle, Bosnia and Herzegovina was founded as a federal unit of the future common state, it was formed as a multinational community of equal peoples. This is a value that must be preserved and we must never lose it," said Komšić.

Delegations visited the Kovači cemetery and the grave of the first President of the Republic of BiH, Alija Izetbegović, the city cemeteries Lav, Sv. Josip, Sv. Marko, and the Stadion Koševo cemetery, the Memorial to the Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, Vraca Memorial Park, and the Memorial on ZAVNOBiH Square, where flowers were laid and tribute was paid to martyrs, fallen soldiers, defenders of our city, as well as anti-fascists and patriots who invested themselves and their lives in the foundations of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
