Laying of the foundation stone for the start of works on the construction of the bridge over the Sava River near Svilaj

 

The Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ismir Jusko, and the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, Oleg Butković, will ceremonially lay the foundation stone for the start of works on the construction of the bridge over the Sava River near Svilaj on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 12 PM, in the village of Svilaj, municipality of Odžak.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, will also attend the ceremonial opening of the works.

This is a major infrastructure project on Corridor 5C, which will connect the highway on the Bosnian and Herzegovinian and Croatian sides of the Sava River.

The bridge over the Sava River near Svilaj is the link of the highway on Corridor 5c between BiH and Croatia, namely the highway section in the Republic of Croatia: Sredanci – border of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the highway section in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Odžak – border of the Republic of Croatia, interstate bridge Svilaj.

For each direction, three lanes of 3.50 meters wide are planned, without a stopping lane, with protective traffic lanes of 0.5 meters on both sides, as well as a concrete monolithic pedestrian path 0.75 meters wide. The length of the bridge is 640 meters, and the width is 29 meters, with a concrete-steel structure weighing approximately 5,000 tons.

The contractors for the bridge works are the Business Association Viadukt d.d. Zagreb and the company Hering d.d. Široki Brijeg.

The planned completion date for the bridge construction works is two years from the contractor's commencement of work.
