Initiative launched to dismiss Nenad Nešić from the position of BiH Security Minister

(Patria) - A number of deputies in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH have launched an initiative to dismiss Nenad Nešić from the position of BiH Security Minister.

This was confirmed in a social media post by deputy Branislav Borenović (PDP).

"Following the joint action of the RS police and the BiH Prosecutor's Office, and confirmed public knowledge of high-level corruption and the detention of the Security Minister in the Council of Ministers of BiH, a deputy initiative has been launched to dismiss Minister Nešić.

I have already signed it myself, as have all colleagues from the SDS-PDP-Justice and Order List Club.

We expect that the majority of deputies will sign the initiative in the coming days, so that a new minister from the RS can be appointed," Borenović stated.

He also emphasized the need for clear information from the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) on how Nešić passed security checks in 2023, despite the claims of Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić that investigations related to him had been ongoing since 2019.

- Today we discussed requesting information from SIPA following these cases related to the arrest, i.e., detention, of the Security Minister, which is a truly major shock for any country, including BiH.

It is unbelievable that the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH has done absolutely nothing in this regard.

It is important that we get answers on how it is possible for someone from the security structures to approve the appointment of a person under investigation to such a high position," said Borenović.

He also stated that some deputies have independently initiated the dismissal of Nešić.

"We will absolutely support it, but it is very important that we get information from SIPA on how it is possible that in 2023, a minister received approval for appointment to such an important position," added Borenović.

Let us recall that Nešić was detained at the end of last year on suspicion of abuse of office, money laundering, and corruption while he was the head of JP Putevi RS from 2016 to 2020.

He was arrested in the "Tunnel 2" operation along with several other individuals. He is currently in detention at the state prison in Vojkovići, after being ordered one month of detention.
