Security measures have been heightened in major Western European cities ahead of New Year's Eve celebrations due to fears of terrorist attacks, and authorities are particularly concerned about the fact that such attacks occurred in Germany and France this year, reports The Guardian.
- All measures have been taken to prevent a potential attack - the Berlin police announced, where concrete blocks and armored vehicles will ensure carefully controlled pedestrian access to Pariser Platz, in front of the Brandenburg Gate, the traditional venue for New Year's Eve celebrations.
