Increased controls on pellet prices, unjustified increase compared to last year

(Patria) - Federal Minister of Trade Amir Hasičević spoke with the President of the Forestry and Wood Industry Group within the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vildan Hajić, about finding the best solution for stabilizing the pellet market, whose price, according to citizen reports, has doubled compared to last year.

Minister Hasičević emphasized that measures of increased controls have already been initiated with the aim of determining whether this is a justified price increase of this energy source or unfair trade practices, the Federal Ministry of Trade announced.

"According to current findings, the price of pellets has unjustifiably doubled compared to last year. We will take measures primarily to protect consumers. We have mechanisms through the Law on Price Control, as well as through the new Consumer Protection Law, which is in procedure, to find a long-term solution," Minister Hasičević stated.

The President of the Forestry and Wood Industry Group, Vildan Hajić, informed the minister that there have been no significant changes in raw material prices in pellet production, which further confirms the need to examine market trends and the structure of price formation.

"In order to protect end consumers, especially socially vulnerable categories, while respecting the interests of producers, we believe that Minister Hasičević will find the best solution for market stabilization," Hajić said.

A meeting with representatives of pellet producers will be held tomorrow, after which Minister Hasičević will present to the public concrete measures that the Federal Ministry of Trade is undertaking to stabilize the pellet market in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Ministry of Trade announced.
