Air quality worsened in Sarajevo Canton, weather change expected from Wednesday

(Patria) - Air quality in Sarajevo Canton has been compromised since yesterday. The deterioration continued today, so elevated values of PM10 particles are being recorded at several measuring sites.
The highest values of this pollutant are registered at the measuring stations Ilijaš, Otoka, and Bjelave and Vogošća, with fluctuations during the day.

A similar situation is expected tomorrow, and chronic lung and heart patients, pregnant women, the elderly, children, as well as other risk groups of the population are advised to avoid spending time outdoors.

According to the synoptic forecast, a change can be expected as early as Wednesday around noon. The weakening of the temperature inversion, along with strengthening southerly winds, which is forecast for that part of the day, should contribute to cleaning the air in the Sarajevo valley.

Air quality monitoring results are continuously tracked, analyzed, and assessed, and if the situation requires it, the adoption of intervention measures is not excluded.
