(Patria) - Two people were injured yesterday when a landslide was triggered in the Mostar neighborhood of Bijela.
The Federal Administration of Civil Protection (FUCZ) says the landslide occurred yesterday around 6:30 PM, when a large amount of rock ended up in the river due to quarry blasting.
"During the fall, a large amount of rock buried cars that were on the road. Two cars ended up in the river, while a search is underway for a third, as it is unknown whether it is under the landslide or in the water.
Fortunately, the cars belong to hikers who were not inside them at the time of the accident. According to current information, there are no human casualties," the FUCZ stated.
Two people were injured, one of whom was in a boat that was knocked over when the landslide fell into the river, causing a rise in water level and a large wave. The other injured person was on the shore at the time of the accident.
Both injured individuals received medical treatment. Police are securing the accident site. The investigation was suspended last night and is expected to resume this morning.
A terrifying video of the landslide in the quarry was posted on the Facebook page "Vremenska prognoza Bijelo Polje".
