See Some of Sarajevo's Symbols During the War and After Reconstruction

Generations born after the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina can learn about what Bosnia and Herzegovina survived during the aggression in the period 1992-1995 from the stories of their parents, grandmothers, grandfathers, TV documentaries, or photographs taken during that time, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

Digging through some old archives, we found photographs of some of Sarajevo's recognizable symbols that were completely destroyed, burned, or served as shelters during the war.

One such symbol is the JP Elektroprivreda BiH building, which was destroyed and later rebuilt after the war. Another symbol is Sarajevo's City Hall (Vijećnica), which was officially renovated and ceremoniously opened this year. A third symbol is the flower shop "Vjetrenjača," which is unrecognizable in the photograph, and today it is one of the most beautiful flower shops in Sarajevo.
