See the assets declared by candidates for the BiH Presidency

Politicians often hide their assets because they have grown enormously since they entered the most profitable business in BiH – politics. Before the elections, they submit asset declarations to the Central Election Commission, but often conceal the true state of affairs, and no one is held accountable for it, as there is no legal basis for such a thing, writes Patria.

The Center for Investigative Journalism has published the asset declarations of 160 politicians, and it is evident what position politicians are in compared to the population in BiH.

BAKIR IZETBEGOVIĆ

Thus, Bakir Izetbegović, member of the BiH Presidency, earned 67,185 KM from his salary alone in the period from January 1 to December 31, 2013, while his wife earned 61,539 KM from her salary in the same period, with an additional 24,142 KM earned from fees.

Izetbegović further stated in the asset declaration he submitted to the CIK that he owns a house with his wife, valued at 120,000 KM, and land worth 60,000 KM.

Judging by the asset declaration, Izetbegović does not own a car, but his wife, Sebija Izetbegović, director of the General Hospital "Abdulah Nakaš", owns a car worth 50,000 KM. Furthermore, she owns an apartment (50 square meters) worth 100,000 KM.

Both are indebted; Bakir is repaying a loan of 67,000 KM, and Sebija a loan of 33,459 KM, which is slightly less than the fees she earned last year.

In their asset declaration, the Izetbegovićs did not declare a garage in Presjenice, where Sebija's apartment is also located.

FAHRUDIN RADONČIĆ

Radončić, a candidate for the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, states in the asset declaration submitted to the CIK that he earned 60,000 KM from his salary last year. Radončić also received 50% of the dividend for the fiscal year 2012 from the company "Avaz Roto Press" (the remainder for 2014 is 781,441 KM).

Radončić also states that he has a contract for the sale of 100 percent of the capital share of the company "Avaz Roto Press" dated July 6, 2012 (total amount of 200 million KM), and that he owns a house (approx. 240 m2 and 600 m2 yard) valued at 300,000 KM and a rural estate in the village of Nebočaj, approx. 7 hectares with associated residential buildings of approx. 450 m2, valued at 500,000 KM.

Radončić did not disclose his account balances, stating that they are variable. He pays 4,000 KM in alimony for his son Faris.

MUSTAFA CERIĆ

Mustafa Cerić, an independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, stated in his asset declaration that from May 30, 2013, to May 30, 2014, he earned a total of 116,200 KM, of which 24,000 KM was from his pension, 12,000 KM from compensation, 9,800 KM from commissions, and 70,400 KM from fees.

Cerić stated that he owns a private house co-owned with his wife, valued at 750,000 KM, and two fields and two orchards worth 8,000 KM. He stated that he drives a 1992 Honda car worth 1,000 KM, and has 1,000 KM in his account at Vakufska Bank.

- I own a family house in the Municipality of Visoko, in a 1/2 share with my brother. The house owned by me and my wife is the same house in a 1/2 share. Regarding the fee abroad in the amount of 60,000 KM, tax obligations have been settled in Jordan where the fee was earned – Cerić wrote.

ŽELJKA CVIJANOVIĆ

Željka Cvijanović, candidate for the Serb member of the BiH Presidency for SNSD - DNS - SP, earned 43,000 KM last year, and her husband Aleksandar Cvijanović earned 34,000 KM plus 10,500 KM for work in commissions.

- The total value of the family house is 444,646.00 KM, and since this house is registered in my name for 1/2 (one half), the amount of 222,323.00 KM is listed. I have 1,040.00 euros (or 2,080.00 KM) in savings at NLB Bank Banja Luka and 6,700 KM and 3,000 euros (or 6,000 KM) in savings at Sberbank, and a credit card worth 1,000 KM at Raiffeisen Bank – Cvijanović stated.

Cvijanović stated that she drives a Golf 5 worth 10,000 KM, while her husband drives a Citroen X5 worth 35,000 KM and has savings of 12,000 KM.

MLADEN IVANIĆ

Mladen Ivanić, candidate for the Serb member of the BiH Presidency and delegate in the House of Peoples, earned 83,000 KM last year from his salary (Parliament and faculty), and an additional 5,000 KM from freelance work.

Ivanić owns an apartment in Banja Luka worth 140,000 KM, a part of a weekend house in Montenegro worth 40,000 KM, and stated that he drives a Mercedes ML 320 worth 35,000 KM. He has 14,000 KM in his bank account and 45,000 KM in cash.

Under the debt section, Ivanić stated that he owes a total of 50,000 KM, consisting of a bank loan of 10,000 KM and a credit of 40,000 KM.

His wife, Gordana Ivanić, earned 34,000 KM last year and owns an apartment in Belgrade worth 110,000 KM.

DRAGAN ČOVIĆ

Dragan Čović, candidate for the Croat member of the BiH Presidency, earned 57,463 KM last year from his salary in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and 10,000 KM at the faculty. From special fees in 2013, Čović reported earnings of 12,571 KM, and under the item fees, he wrote that he earned 10,000 KM.

It is stated that Čović also owns a family house, but its value was not specified. Čović also has a loan worth 150,000 KM. His wife, Bernadica, earned 12,000 KM last year, and under the item "other", it is stated that she earned 20,000 KM.

She also owns a law office in Mostar, but its value was not disclosed. She drives an Audi A-3, but its value was also not disclosed.

Interestingly, Čović, like many others, did not state whether he owns property outside of BiH.

MARTIN RAGUŽ

Martin Raguž, candidate for the Croat member of the BiH Presidency, stated in his asset declaration that from July 1, 2007, to July 1, 2014, he earned 215,000 KM, of which 117,000 KM was from salaries, 20,000 KM from fees, and 25,000 KM from work in commissions.

Raguž stated that he owns an apartment in Mostar worth 200,000 KM and two family cars worth 55,000 KM. He has 5,000 KM in his account.

He is indebted a total of 100,000 KM for loans. His wife, Marina Raguž, is unemployed and has no income, but owns an apartment in Sarajevo worth 80,000 KM and a weekend house in Croatia worth 150,000 KM.
