Podžić receives Major General Trischak: Enhancing cooperation between AF BiH and EUFOR

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić with associates received in an inaugural visit the EUFOR commander in BiH Major General Reinhard Trischak, on 7 January 2020. The topics of discussion were maintaining the current level of cooperation and its enhancement between EUFOR forces and the Armed Forces of BiH.

Minister Podžić at the beginning of the meeting extended words of welcome to General Trischak and thanked him for EUFOR's contribution to peacebuilding and the development of operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of BiH. Minister Podžić acquainted General Trischak with future work plans, expressing expectations that after sending the document "Reform Programme" to NATO headquarters, the path will be opened for the continuation of the Euro-Atlantic integration process, as well as the implementation of the strategic document "Defence Review" and the improvement of operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of BiH.

Furthermore, Minister Podžić emphasised the great importance of the training that EUFOR provides to the Armed Forces of BiH, especially for our participation in peacekeeping missions. General Trischak expressed confidence that continuity and enhancement of cooperation between the Armed Forces of BiH and EUFOR will be ensured in the upcoming period, highlighting that the goal of the EUFOR mission in BiH is to be a support in positive processes. Additionally, General Trischak praised the level of professionalism of our members during the implementation of joint activities.

The meeting also discussed the process of storage and disposal of surplus ammunition and mine-explosive devices, military demining, as well as other activities carried out by the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH.
