Union of Independent Police Unions of FBiH Supports Colleagues from State Police Unions: Proposed Law Must Be Revised!

(Patria) - The Union of Independent Police Unions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a representative union for the public order and security sector in the Federation of BiH, is actively monitoring the activities of legislative bodies at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina related to the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Police Officers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and shares the justified indignation of the Union regarding certain provisions that would ultimately lead to more serious discrimination of police officers, violation of their fundamental rights, and placing them in a state of legal uncertainty.

This law is on the agenda of today's session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and the proposal in procedure is not acceptable to the Union of Police Organs in BiH (SIPA, DKPT, GP BiH). The Union of Independent Police Unions of the Federation of BiH, which protested a similar legal solution at the FBiH level that was eventually withdrawn from the procedure, also gave its support.

"It is a devastating fact that the reasoned proposals of the police Unions at the state level are not accepted, nor are they seriously considered, although they are fundamentally based on the principles of equality, legality, and transparency, and represent a genuine reform of the police forces at the state level, which will serve both the state and the entire social community.

The Union of Independent Police Unions of the Federation of BiH hereby wishes to express its sincere support to the police Unions at the state level and at the same time calls on the representatives of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH not to adopt the proposed text of the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Police Officers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to return it for revision, during which the reasoned and justified proposals of the union structures would be included in the text," it was announced from the Union of Independent Police Unions of FBiH, headed by Mirza Hadžiabdić.
