Support for HNK education workers not lacking: One-hour warning strike in primary and secondary schools on Monday

(Patria) - On Monday from 12:30 to 13:30, a one-hour warning strike will be held in all union organizations of the Union of Secondary and Higher Education, Upbringing, Science and Culture of BiH.

The strike is being held in support of colleagues in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, who have been on a general strike for the fourth week. To show solidarity and send a message to the authorities about unity, a warning strike has been scheduled in all primary and secondary schools in FBiH.

The Minister of Upbringing and Education of KS, Naida Hota-Muminović (NIP), announced the planned strike, stating that the strike is illegal and urging teachers in KS not to participate.

Selvedin Šatorović, president of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of BiH and president of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of FBiH, reacted to the minister's call.

"If we have ministers like this and a narrative like in KS, then this job will definitely become even more dangerous, stressful, and unpopular. It is expected that with such an attitude from individuals, like the minister in KS or how the Government in HNK behaves, in a few years we will not have a single qualified teacher to educate the future of BiH, our students. If that is the goal and if that is the modality for these people to remain in power for another decade or two, then they will truly bear special social responsibility for what they are doing," Šatorović told Faktor.

He added that due to all the problems in KS, they expected the minister to resign herself.

"This hour of solidarity, where solidarity will be shown among education workers at the FBiH level, carries a much more significant educational component for the young generations than what the responsible minister is doing," he concluded.
