Support for the most vulnerable: ZDK Government allocates 500,000 KM for public kitchens

The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, at its 124th session, adopted a decision on
the transfer of 5,000,000 KM to the Cantonal Hospital Zenica Public Institution, for co-financing the education of doctors of medicine and dentistry in specialization, as well as junior doctors.

A Proposal of the Decision on establishing a list of medicines under special approval was also adopted, as well as the method and procedure for insured persons to exercise their right to use them at the expense of the ZDK Health Insurance Fund.

In the absence of Prime Minister Nezir Pivić, the session was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dženana Čišija.

– A set of decisions with social intervention character was adopted, as well as a decision from the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs on housing for families of demobilized fighters. This amounts to 16,149 KM from the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy and Refugees and 248,000 KM from the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs – stated Minister Čišija.

The Union of Veterans of ZDK was allocated 25,000 KM for marking the Day of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Capital transfers to other levels of government from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports were adopted in the amount of 550,000 KM, while an additional 175,000 KM was approved for non-profit organizations.

Decisions on the transfer of funds for the operation of public kitchens in Zenica, Maglaj, and Sarajevo from the budget of the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy and Refugees were also adopted. A total of 500,000 KM was approved for these purposes.

The Regional Board of Merhamet Zenica was allocated 200,000 KM, the Regional Board of Merhamet Maglaj 100,000 KM, the City Public Kitchen Zenica 120,000 KM, the Association “Mladi volonteri” Visoko 50,000 KM, and the organization “Kruh svetog Ante” Sarajevo 30,000 KM.

According to the Minister of Labour, Social Policy and Refugees, Antonio Šimunović, the funds were allocated with the aim of providing meals for the most vulnerable citizens of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.

Compared to last year, this is an increase of more than 10 percent. A total of 50,000 KM was allocated to 20 returnee associations that applied for the public call, for the implementation of projects of significance to returnees.

– We also adopted the Program for professional training without employment for the needs of the ZDK Government. These are projects that we regularly implement in cooperation with REZ Zenica, and a public call will be published soon – emphasized Minister Šimunović.
