Faculty of Political Sciences of UNSA Supports: The Survival of BHRT Means the Survival of BiH Society and State

(Patria) - The Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Sarajevo expresses its full support to the employees of BHRT in their more than justified demands for resolving the BHRT crisis.

"The public broadcasting system is among the most important pillars of a democratic society and, in that context, the survival of BHRT means the survival of BiH society and state. A functional and modern public broadcasting system is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's obligations in the process of joining the European Union," stated the Faculty of Political Sciences.

They add that BHRT is a medium that informs, orients, and educates citizens and shapes the attitudes of the BiH public.

"BHRT is also an institution that preserves archival material and the collective memory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a cultural treasure of inestimable value. All competent institutions have both a legal and moral obligation to resolve the issue of financing the Public Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and this cannot and must not be in question," they emphasized.

They consider BHRT a long-term partner of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Sarajevo, with whom they have signed cooperation agreements, and where students take their first steps in the journalistic profession by completing internships.

"Numerous journalists and editors at BHRT are alumni of the Faculty of Political Sciences, whom we are proud of and who often return to our classrooms to share their knowledge and experience with current students. Therefore, we consider it our obligation to stand with them at this crucial moment. BHRT can and must survive," they added in the statement.
