Rejuvenation of the Armed Forces of BiH: 74 formation positions opened

On the occasion of the announcement of the Public Call for the recruitment of candidates for professional military service in the initial officer rank of the Armed Forces of BiH, at the AF BiH House in Sarajevo, the Deputy Minister of Defence of BiH for Resource Management Boris Jerinić, the Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, Lieutenant General Anto Jeleč, and the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH for Resources, Major General Senad Mašović, addressed the journalists.

The press conference was attended by representatives of the British Embassy in BiH, as the country supporting this project, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH, as well as young officers who, through this recruitment process, achieved their engagement and career in the Armed Forces of BiH.

Deputy Minister Boris Jerinić, Chief of the JS AF BiH Lieutenant General Anto Jeleč, and Deputy Chief of the JS AF BiH for Resources Major General Senad Mašović, first and foremost, thanked the British Embassy in BiH, as well as the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, for the support they provide to this project, which long-term resolves the officer cadre and simultaneously rejuvenates the officer corps in the Armed Forces of BiH.

In their addresses, they encouraged young people with a university degree to apply for the Public Call, which was announced today and will last until September 30, 2016. This call opens 74 formation positions in the AF BiH, across various branches and services, which is an ideal employment opportunity for girls and young men who have completed a university degree and are under 27 years of age as of January 1, 2018, when, after one year of training, they sign a contract for admission to military service.

The speakers emphasized that this is an absolutely transparent process, protected from any form of corruption, and that the training is conducted in accordance with NATO standards. The one-year Basic Officer Training that candidates undergo before signing the contract for admission to military service will be the first step for young people in building a professional career where they will advance solely based on their knowledge, abilities, and merits. Upon admission to the officer corps of the AF BiH, further intensive professional-specialist training follows in BiH and abroad.

Achieving a high degree of interoperability, capability, readiness, and training are priorities of the AF BiH, with the aim of more efficiently executing the mission and tasks prescribed by the Law on Defence of BiH. The recruitment of new, young, and educated officers means perspective, progress, and development for the AF BiH, as well as the continuation of successful participation in the democratic building of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the press conference, video spots were also premiered, which will be used during the media campaign. The call is published on the website of the Ministry of Defence of BiH www.mod.gov.ba, where all conditions that candidates need to meet, as well as the application method, can be found.
