
(Patria) - The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the BiH Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Dragan Babić, known as Brćo or Vodnik, born in 1967 in Teslić, and Milivoje Maletić, known as Šnjegotinac, born in 1966 in Čelinac - both citizens of BiH.
The accused are charged that during the war and armed conflict in BiH, in their capacity as members of the VRS, accused Babić as the facility manager, as well as a member of the Military Police, and accused Maletić as a guard at the detention facility in Pribinić, during 1992, acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilian Persons and Prisoners of War during Armed Conflict.
They are accused of personally, as well as with other persons, participating in the killing, torture, abuse, beatings, infliction of severe physical and mental injuries, torture in extremely humiliating ways, and holding in inhumane conditions, at least 110 persons of Bosniak and Croat nationality, mostly civilians, as well as prisoners of war, who were held in detention at the aforementioned facility near Teslić.
The committed crimes resulted in the deaths of six persons, three victims of Bosniak and three victims of Croat nationality, none of whom were killed by firearms, but death resulted from severe abuse and physical injuries.
The abuse of prisoners, in a large number of cases, resulted in severe physical injuries, multiple bone fractures, and severe physical damage, the consequences of which are still visible in the victims today.
The prosecution will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling 57 witnesses, including two witnesses with protection measures, as well as by submitting approximately 90 pieces of evidence.
The indictment has been forwarded to the BiH Court for confirmation.
