Indictment filed for war crimes against Bosniaks in Janja

A prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes has filed an indictment related to war crimes against victims of Bosniak nationality in the Janja area, which includes the suspects, the Prosecutor's Office announced, reports the Patria News Agency.

The indictment includes Bogdanović Zoran, born 02.10.1960 in Tuzla, a citizen of BiH, who is under restrictive measures.
Đokić Milan, known as “Mićo“, born 04.11.1950 in Lopare, a citizen of BiH, who is under restrictive measures.
Ikić Ljubiša, born 22.10.1952 in Bijeljina, a citizen of BiH, who is under restrictive measures.
Trišić Branislav, born 25.12.1961 in Bijeljina, a citizen of BiH, employed by OSA BiH at the time of his arrest, who is under restrictive measures.

The accused are charged with committing grave breaches of international humanitarian law and acting contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War during the war and armed conflict in BiH.

They are accused of participating, from 1992 to 1994, as members and command staff of the MUP of the RS, CJB Bijeljina - Janja Police Station, in a widespread and systematic attack directed against the Bosniak population in the area of Janja and surrounding villages.

They are suspected of unlawful detentions, searches, and arrests of the civilian Bosniak population in the Janja area and its surroundings. During these events, unlawfully detained victims were tortured, abused, and beaten, suffering severe bodily injuries. One person died as a result of the abuse, and a number of victims suffered physical and psychological injuries that left permanent consequences on their health.

The suspects are charged with personally and directly participating, alone and with others, in the unlawful detentions, imprisonments, beatings, and abuse of civilians of Bosniak nationality.

As a result of the persecution of the population, with daily abductions, detentions, torture, and abuse, an atmosphere of constant fear for the lives and safety of the Bosniak civilian population was created in the area, forcing the Bosniak population to leave the Janja area by paying sums of money to VRS members for passage to territory under the control of the Army of BiH or to Serbia. The population that remained in Janja was taken for forced labor, to the “Batković“ camp, or used as human shields in battles on Majevica.
