Indictment Raised for War Crimes in the Area of Travnik and Skender Vakuf

(Patria) - The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the BiH Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Boško Peulić (1947), born in Prnjavor, a citizen of BiH and Serbia, Petar Đurić, known as Keruša (1954), born in Skender Vakuf, a citizen of BiH, and Davor Peulić (1970), born in Ljubljana, a citizen of BiH, charging them with war crimes against prisoners of war and war crimes against the civilian population.

The accused are charged that during the war and armed conflict, in the period from the beginning of May to the end of October 1992, in their capacity as: accused Peulić Boško - Commander of the Krajina Corps, Đurić Petar - Commander of the Military Police Unit of the VRS, and Peulić Davor - Commander of the VRS Communications Center, they acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Treatment of Prisoners of War and the Geneva Conventions for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

According to the indictment, the accused Boško Peulić is charged with knowing about the crime committed by his subordinates, the murder of thirteen prisoners of war - members of the HVO Travnik on the Galica plateau, Vlašić Mountain, Travnik municipality, on 05/15/1992, and that as a superior and responsible person for the safety of these civilians and prisoners of war, he failed to take necessary and reasonable measures to prevent the murders and inhumane treatment, nor to punish his subordinates who committed these murders.

They are charged with jointly, in their capacity as army commander and commanders, participating in the unlawful detention and inhumane treatment of detained civilians and prisoners of war in an improvised prison - the basement premises of the PTT Skender Vakuf, holding them in inhumane conditions, subjecting them to torture, abuse, beatings, infliction of physical and psychological injuries, torture in extremely humiliating ways, which resulted in permanent and severe physical and psychological injuries to a larger number of detained persons.

The accused are charged with committing the criminal offense of war crimes against prisoners of war under Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the SFRY, in conjunction with the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population under Article 142 of the same Law.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling 67 witnesses and submitting approximately 186 pieces of evidence. The indictment has been forwarded for confirmation to the Court of BiH, the BiH Prosecutor's Office announced.
