Indictment Filed Against BiH Border Police Officer Aleksandar Pekić for Robbing Passengers at the Airport

The prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption filed an indictment against Aleksandar Pekić, a citizen of BiH, employed as an official of the Border Police of BiH. The accused is charged with, during February and March 2016, as a responsible person in BiH institutions, i.e., a police officer and team leader for passport control at the international border crossing "Sarajevo Airport", with the intent to obtain unlawful material gain, abusing his official position by, during the performance of official duties related to the regular control of passengers and luggage when crossing the state border, acting contrary to the provisions of the law, regulations and instructions of the Border Police of BiH, reports the Patria agency.

- The accused is charged with, during the search of passengers' personal belongings, on several occasions stealing money that was in the luggage of controlled passengers, thereby committing the criminal offense of abuse of position or authority under Article 220 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH is conducting intensive activities to detect and prosecute criminal offenses of abuse of position, especially in cases where the perpetrators are authorized persons of police and security agencies - it was stated.

The indictment will be forwarded for confirmation to the Court of BiH.
