
The prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against seven individuals for war crimes in the Janja area: Stjepanović Vlade, born on 29.03.1959 in Bijeljina, citizen of BiH, Tanasić Zoran, born on 22.11.1971 in Bijeljina, citizen of BiH, employed in the MUP of RS, CJB Bijeljina, PS Janja
Milanović Žarko, born on 18.06.1963 in the place of Gornji Kojčinovac, municipality of Bijeljina, citizen of BiH, employed in the MUP of RS, CJB Bijeljina, PS Janja, Krajišnik Mladen, born on 24.02.1970 in Hadžići, citizen of BiH, previously convicted, Mršić Savo, born on 14.02.1952 in the place of Čengić, municipality of Bijeljina, citizen of BiH,
Čobić Milivoje, born on 10.03.1968 in the place of Kojčinovac, municipality of Bijeljina, citizen of BiH
Marković Milan, born on 03.11.1960 in Bijeljina, citizen of BiH.
The accused are charged with, in the period from April 1992 to the end of September 1994, as part of a widespread and systematic attack directed against the civilian Bosniak and other non-Serb population of the municipality of Bijeljina, as members of the MUP of RS, CJB Bijeljina - Station Department of Militia (SOM), i.e., the Militia Station (SM) Janja, carrying out persecution of the civilian Bosniak population of Janja.
The accused Tanasić, Krajišnik, Stjepanović, Mršić and Milanović are charged with, during the bringing in and detention of civilians of Bosniak nationality in SOM/SM Janja, as well as outside it, by order of the commander and their deputies, on multiple occasions, by psychological and physical torture, beating, striking with fists, knees, feet shod in boots, batons, death threats, inflicting severe physical and mental injuries, pain and suffering on civilians of Bosniak nationality.
According to the indictment, the accused Čobić and Marković are charged with, with the intent to kill, voluntarily carrying out the beating of a civilian of Bosniak nationality, striking with a rifle butt, kicking the entire body, until loss of consciousness, and as a result of the consequences, the death of the said civilian of Bosniak nationality occurred.
The accused Tanasić and Stjepanović are charged with, armed with automatic rifles, with the intent to kill a civilian of Bosniak nationality, firing several shots, thereby inflicting severe physical injuries on him, after which, believing that the death of the civilian had occurred due to the sustained injuries, they left the scene.
The accused are charged with committing the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under the Criminal Code of BiH. The indictment has been forwarded for confirmation to the Court of BiH.
