Indictment Filed Against Nebojša Mirović for War Crimes Against Bosniaks in Teslić

The prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against Nebojša Mirović, known as "Nešo" and "Srbijanac", born in 1962 in Belgrade, where he resides, a citizen of Serbia.

The accused is charged with, during the war and armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a member of the police of the CJB Teslić, acting contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the protection of civilians during war, and committing war crimes against victims, men of Bosniak nationality from the area of Teslić and its surroundings, Patria reports.

The accused is charged with, in the spring and summer of 1992, personally, on multiple occasions, alone or with other persons, carrying out unlawful detention, isolation and abuse of victims of Bosniak nationality, whom he tortured, beat and assaulted in various ways, often to the point of inflicting fatal injuries.

As a result of the abuse and inhuman treatment, one civilian died after 2-3 days, one victim could not move for several months, and many victims, including a minor boy, sustained injuries whose consequences they still feel today.

The accused is charged with committing the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population.

The Prosecutor's Office will prove the allegations with testimonies of about 30 witnesses and the submission of dozens of pieces of evidence.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
