Indictment filed against two Army of Republika Srpska commanders for war crimes near Goražde

(Patria) - The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes has filed an indictment against Branislav Lasica, known as Miško and Laci, born in 1965 in Goražde, and Miroslav Milović, born in 1950 in Ustiprača.

The accused are charged with commanding and participating in an attack on the village of Lozje near Goražde as commanders of VRS units, during which approximately 30 victims, mostly civilians including women, children, and the elderly, were killed, and dozens of people were taken into unlawful detention, and large-scale unlawful, arbitrary, and militarily unjustified destruction or appropriation of property was carried out.

The Prosecution will prove the allegations in the indictment by calling 139 witnesses and submitting 251 pieces of evidence.

The accused are charged with the criminal offenses of war crimes against the civilian population, organizing a group of people, and inciting the commission of the criminal offenses of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes, violations of the laws or customs of war, in connection with the criminal offense of individual and command responsibility under the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
