Indictment Filed Against German National for Smuggling Precious Metals

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption has filed an indictment against Wagner Nikolaus Andreas Stefan Ludwig, born in 1988 in the Federal Republic of Germany, a citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany.

- The accused is charged with attempting to smuggle a larger quantity of silver and silver coins, whose market value exceeds 10,000 BAM, across the border while leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina in July of last year.

The accused is charged with attempting to smuggle a larger quantity of silver, a total of 12 silver bars and 19 pieces of silver coins - minted silver banknotes with a market value of around 11,500 BAM, on August 7, 2017, at the border crossing Brod, while leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina in a passenger motor vehicle he was driving, which he did not declare to the authorized customs officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In committing the smuggling, the accused was discovered and prevented by officers of the Border Police and the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The accused is charged with transporting goods of higher value across the customs line, avoiding customs control measures, thereby committing the criminal offense of smuggling under Article 214, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation - the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
