Indictment Filed Against Amir Haskić for Attempting to Join ISIL

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A prosecutor from the Terrorism Department of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed an indictment against Amir Haskić, born in 1995 in Sarajevo, a citizen of BiH.

The accused is charged with having devised a plan and secured the necessary means with the aim of joining a foreign paramilitary formation operating outside BiH, and decided to join the structures of the so-called „ISIL“, which has been declared a terrorist organization by the UN Security Council.

The indictment states that in November 2017, the accused, through internet communication and contact applications, established contact with an active member of the so-called „ISIL“ located in Syria, and in communication told members of „ISIL“ that he had secured the necessary funds and would join this terrorist group, that upon arrival in Syria he would burn his Bosnia and Herzegovina passport, and as a member of the terrorist group the so-called „Islamic State“, participate in armed conflicts in Syria.

The accused was, in his intention, discovered, located and prevented by police and security structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which searches of the premises he used were carried out, and the suspect was deprived of liberty and is in custody.

The accused is charged with the criminal offense of unlawful formation and joining of foreign paramilitary or parapolice formations under Article 162b, paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The indictment has been forwarded for confirmation to the Court of BiH.
