Under the pretext of having no mosques, Slovakia decides: We will only accept Christian migrants

Like many European countries, Slovakia is opening its doors to refugees, but as things stand, not to everyone, reports the Patria news agency. Europe is under a wave of migrants fleeing war and poverty from the Middle East and other parts of the world. 

Around 200 people from camps in Turkey, Italy and Greece are expected to arrive in Slovakia. Interior Minister Ivan Metik stated that Muslims will not be accepted because they will not feel at home.

He added that this is not about discrimination but an attempt to create a community.

In July alone, more than 107,500 migrants arrived in Europe, most of them from Syria, Afghanistan and sub-Saharan Africa. Meanwhile, a proposal emerged to distribute migrants among countries based on special quotas.

Slovakia was one of the countries that did not accept this system.

"We want to help, but we are only a transit country. They won't stay in Slovakia for long anyway," said Metik.

"We can accept 800 Muslims, but we have no mosques at all, so how will they fit into society if they won't even like staying here?" the minister points out.
