Trial for crimes in Konjic begins

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The trial of Agan Ramić, accused of crimes committed in the Konjic area, begins next week at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office previously requested the State Court to merge the case against Agan Ramić with the case in which he was originally indicted – with Esad Ramić, Omer Borić, Šefik Nikšić, Adnan Alikadić, Mitko Pirkić, Redžo Balić, Hamedo Lukomirko, Safaudin Ćosić, Muhamed Cakić, Ismet Hebibović, Enes Jahić, Senadin Ćibo, and Željko Šimunović – for crimes against the Serb civilian population in the Konjic area committed between May 1992 and May 1993.

As stated at that hearing, Ramić, whose case has been separated from the others since 2018 due to his illness, is charged on one count of the indictment for an event in the Konjic village of Brđani. The Prosecutor's Office was ordered at the December 2019 hearing to submit a precise indictment against Ramić.

The beginning of Ramić's trial is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, when a status conference is also planned before the trial of Duško Suvara, who is accused of raping women of Bosniak nationality, and torture and intimidation in the Glamoč municipality during 1992.

Suvara is accused of inflicting severe physical and psychological suffering and torture, inhumane treatment, causing great suffering and injuries, violating personal dignity through particularly offensive and humiliating treatment, and attacking the honor of women, as a member of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS).

The accused pleaded not guilty at the plea hearing in January of this year.

On the same day, the closing arguments of the Defense of Željko Todić, accused of crimes in Oborci near Donji Vakuf, are scheduled.

Todić is being tried with Branko Čigoja, Saša Boškić, and Milorad Glamočak for the murder of 28 persons of Bosniak and Croatian nationality committed on September 13, 1995, in Oborci. According to the indictment, Glamočak was the commander, and the other accused were members of the Reconnaissance Platoon of the Mrkonjićka Brigade of the VRS, BIRN writes.

Trials for crimes committed in Zvornik, Prijedor, Goražde, Višegrad, Foča, Vlasenica, Sanski Most, Konjic, Kotor-Varoš, and other cities are scheduled for next week.
