Reconstruction of Štrosmajerova Street Begins

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Reconstruction of the pedestrian zone in Štrosmajerova Street – from the junction with Ferhadija Street to the intersection with Zelenih beretki Street, will begin on Saturday, September 14th, it was confirmed by the municipal Service for Investments and Communal Affairs, in charge of this project. Preparatory works on arranging the construction site and installing protective fences will begin tomorrow.

As previously done in Ferhadija, Sarači, Bravadžiluk, and Baščaršijski trg streets, the old surface and tiles will be removed in Štrosmajerova Street, and the water supply network will be reconstructed, the storm drainage system will be addressed, an reinforced concrete base will be laid, followed by new paving.

The works in Štrosmajerova Street were announced last week by the Mayor of the Old Town Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, at the presentation of projects being implemented in the Old Town.

"We have completed the major project of Ferhadija reconstruction, and next week we are starting works in Štrosmajerova Street. There, too, the surface will be removed, water supply installations replaced, and new paving laid," Hadžibajrić said at the time. The Municipality will implement this project with the Sarajevo Canton Roads Directorate, and the value of the works is BAM 550,000.

According to information from the competent service, works will be carried out on an area of 1,100 m2, and the works will be performed in a way that pedestrian traffic proceeds unimpeded, on one side of the street.

Funds for the reconstruction of Štrosmajerova Street have been secured based on the Agreement concluded between the Old Town Municipality and the Sarajevo Canton Roads Directorate.
