Project worth 350,000 euros launched: Young Roma for Rights and Inclusion

CARE International presents the project YOUNG ROMA FOR RIGHTS AND INCLUSION funded by the European Union through the Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), in the amount of 350,000 euros.

The main goal of the project, implemented by CARE International Balkan, in cooperation with partner organizations Women's Association of Roma Women Better Future from Tuzla City and Otaharin from Bijeljina, is to strengthen Roma civil society representatives, non-governmental organizations, and youth in their fight for the realization of basic social, economic, and human rights, as the most marginalized and most numerous national minority in BiH.

During the 30-month duration of the project (from January 1, 2017, to June 30, 2019) in 6 selected municipalities: Vitez, Travnik, Donji Vakuf, Prnjavor, Bijeljina, and Tuzla, over 40 young Roma men and women will be identified and educated, who will implement over 20 local initiatives aimed at Roma integration.

Support will also be provided to smaller Roma organizations operating in the aforementioned municipalities, and 4 small grants will be awarded to address specific problems of the Roma population and to improve the implementation of local action plans for the inclusion of Roma men and women.

In this way, through the project, we aim to contribute to the inclusion of Roma men and women, especially youth, in decision-making processes, the initiation of local initiatives to improve the quality of life of the Roma population, as well as the improvement of existing strategies and public policies important for the Roma population.
