Distribution of donated equipment from the UAE begins

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – After the customs procedure was completed, the distribution of donated medical and protective equipment from the United Arab Emirates can finally begin. The equipment arrived at Sarajevo Airport on May 27, and the problem arose with the submission of individual prices for each donated item, which is an integral part of the customs procedure, regardless of it being a donation.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed to the Patria News Agency that the donated medical supplies are ready for distribution to the identified end-users.

“The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina has invited the identified institutions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska, and Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina to URGENTLY determine the date and time for the handover of the donation from the cargo center of Sarajevo International Airport.
 
The identified institution of Republika Srpska for receiving the donation is the Institute of Public Health of Republika Srpska, Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina Public Health Institution “Health Center Brčko”, while representatives of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will identify end-users by Cantons/Counties,“ stated the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH.

The distribution ratio has been proposed and confirmed in accordance with Article 2 of the Decision on the Principles of Distribution of International Aid for Protection and Rescue (“Official Gazette of BiH“, No. 24/20), in such a way that the Federation of BiH receives 61.5 percent, Republika Srpska 37.5 percent, and Brčko District one percent. 

The Federation of BiH will further distribute the received aid to ten cantons in a ratio of 50 percent. 

From the UAE, 40 ventilators, 152,000 pairs of gloves, 150,000 N95 masks, 150,000 surgical masks, 150,000 disposable masks, 50,000 protective visors, 20,400 protective goggles, 25,000 protective suits, and 100,000 COVID-19 tests arrived, with a total value of 2.5 million dollars.
