Payment of benefits for unemployed demobilised defenders begins

(Patria) - The Ministry for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton has issued an order for the payment of subsistence allowance for October 2021 to unemployed demobilised defenders under the age of 57.

It is expected that the payment of funds to beneficiaries will begin today, 11 November 2021, in the banks where they have open accounts.

“Allowances for October will be received by 3,158 persons, whose names were entered by municipalities into the payment application. For September, 669,915 BAM will be paid (regular and retroactive payment), whereby beneficiaries whose right was recognised for earlier months, and who were not included in previous calculations, will retroactively receive the amount due. The highest amount is 275 BAM for 55 months of service in the armed forces, and the lowest amount is 60 BAM for 12 months of service,” the Ministry stated.

They emphasise that a smaller number of requests are being processed, and that they will be included in subsequent calculations (regular amount and retroactive payment, in accordance with the decision).

Beneficiaries who identify an error in the payment of funds are advised by the Ministry to contact the competent municipal service for veteran and disability protection, so that any error can be corrected.

Also, they remind that each person is obliged to promptly report to their municipal service for veteran and disability protection any change that affects this right, i.e., its termination, such as employment, exercising the right to a pension, and the like, in order to avoid unjustified payment.

“We remind that the right to subsistence allowance cannot be held by persons who earn monthly income greater than 50% of the minimum pension paid in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for December 2018 (174.03 BAM), whereby income also includes rights from the area of veteran and disability protection (family and personal disability allowance, and others),” the Ministry stated.

In the event of unjustified or illegal payment, the beneficiary is obliged to return it in full.
