INTENSIVE CLEANING BEGINS Snow will be disposed of in the Miljacka with constant water level monitoring

(Patria) - At yesterday's meeting in the KS Government, it was stated that there are serious difficulties in traffic flow due to uncleared snow, as well as insufficiently cleared sidewalks, especially in front of private and business premises, which significantly hinders or prevents citizens from moving. The Minister of Transport, Adnan Šteta, also spoke during the day and highlighted which minibus lines are not operating due to uncleared snow.

The Minister of Communal Economy, Mladen Pandurević, pointed out that he had visited city streets in the previous days, especially in the hilly parts of the city, and emphasized the need for consistent application of regulations and increased supervision on the ground.

The need to engage communal workers from KJKP „Rad“ and KJKP „Park“ as assistance to inspection services, in cooperation with the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs (KUIP), was emphasized.

The Minister also informed those present that an agreement had been reached with the Faculty of Forestry to conduct an urgent inspection of trees along roads and entrances to buildings, and to prepare a plan for the removal or pruning of trees and canopies that pose a potential danger.

The meeting also highlighted the limited capacity of available machinery, and the possibility of engaging additional excavators and trucks for snow removal and hauling was considered.

Special attention was paid to the issue of disposing of snow in the Miljacka River, with an assessment of possible risks from rising water levels.

The company "Rad" stated that they currently face a major challenge with an insufficient number of trucks and excavators, while the company "Vodovod i kanalizacija" said they can make an additional four excavators and two trucks available to the company "Rad". The company "Park" will also provide a tractor for sidewalk cleaning in the afternoon.

It was concluded that communal companies will take all necessary measures to remove snow from priority zones I and II as soon as possible, thereby creating conditions for continuing the cleaning of other areas.

It was also concluded that snow can be disposed of in the Miljacka River gradually and in a controlled manner, with constant monitoring.

The Operational Center of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration will continuously monitor the water level, and if it rises, snow disposal will be immediately suspended. The Cantonal Civil Protection Administration will also send a circular letter to all municipal civil protection headquarters with the task of increased monitoring of the situation on the ground.

Public companies "Park" and "Rad" are tasked with immediately submitting requests to the Ministry for additional worker engagement, with the aim of intensifying snow cleaning on sidewalks and hard-to-reach locations. Furthermore, "Park", "Rad", and "Vodovod i kanalizacija" are tasked with, in coordination with the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration, optimally distributing and mutually transferring available machinery, in accordance with priorities on the ground.

It was also concluded that the police, in coordination with KJKP „Rad“, will carry out activities to remove illegally parked vehicles, especially at locations that represent critical points and where there is a danger to the safety of citizens and unimpeded traffic flow, as well as preventing effective snow cleaning.

On Sunday, the snow caused traffic problems, which were also interrupted. The streets of Sarajevo have not been cleared for days, and many citizens cannot use their cars due to snow and ice.
