(Beginners) on the path to the EU

(Patria) - RS President Željka Cvijanović either does not follow daily news, or does not understand the simple and clear messages coming from the EU. Her attempt today to also settle scores with the High Representative in BiH Valentin Inzko, who gave the NSRS three months to withdraw the charters awarded to convicted war criminals, is desperate.

It is easier for (beginners) to feign patriotism, even if it is contrary to basic civilizational values, than to explain to citizens why electricity will become more expensive, or God forbid, to carefully analyze the messages that domestic politicians receive from EU representatives.

When asked about Inzko's request to the NSRS, the EU Delegation "reminded" that taking concrete steps to improve the environment conducive to reconciliation in order to overcome the legacy of war is one of the 14 key priorities from the European Commission's Opinion on BiH's application for EU membership.

"Glorifying war criminals, revisionism, and denying well-documented and established facts about wartime events, including war crimes, is contrary to the most basic European values," stated the EU Delegation to BiH.

The defense and glorification of war criminals is not only a problem for Željka Cvijanović and the current authorities in RS. Listening to opposition leaders, you realize that it is a desirable political narrative that absolutely strengthens the High Representative's claims that the NSRS, which decorates war criminals, imposes a heavy burden of guilt on the Serb people.

Nowhere did Inzko say that there is collective responsibility of the people; on the contrary, he clearly pointed to the political and institutional responsibility of those who were given the mandate to decide on behalf of the citizens of RS. The fact that the opposition agrees with the current authorities on the issue of relations with criminals does not mean that it is morally the same or justified.

The choral support of politicians for war criminals harms the Serb people the most, the majority who do not have diplomatic passports with which they could freely walk around the European Union.

In Germany, after the crimes committed in its name during World War II, there were politicians brave and wise enough who, by gifting to the victims and acknowledging that crimes had occurred, removed the shackles of collective responsibility from the entire nation.

Unfortunately, in RS, the belief among politicians still prevails that they will profit more as Chetniks than as reformers who respect civilizational values.

It is easier and more beneficial, but only for them, because by keeping BiH further away from the European Union, they actually do not want a final reckoning with crime, or even worse for them, the loss of their own comfort, which the opposition also objectively enjoys. Why would someone eat a sandwich and wait for a train in the style of the Swedish minister when they can ride in the most expensive Audi?

But let's get back to the topic, not all Serbs are Chetniks, period. Proof of this is the SDP Vice-President Vojin Mijatović, who calls things by their real name in BiH without problems. Perhaps he has not profited politically yet, but he has profited humanly, and that is why we should live for the day when people like him will decide on behalf of the citizens of BiH. Vojin is not different just because he admits that genocide happened in BiH, which Milorad Dodik also claimed at one time, but because he is ready to criticize any inconsistency within his political party, aware that one can fight against fascism and crime under its guise only with firm principles or perseverance. BiH does not need Europe, but Europe and NATO are needed by all of us.

Everything else is the maintenance of tribal communities that do not belong to the modern world and which, sooner or later, will solve their problems exclusively through bloodshed.
