Beginning of the 7th Season of Italian Culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Italian Embassy in Sarajevo has announced the opening of the 7th Season of Italian Culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which from September to December will offer citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina numerous initiatives presenting Italian culture in all its forms, focused on promoting the historical and cultural closeness of our two countries. 

"This year's edition is characterized by the traditional inclusion in the calendar of our activities of the most important centers and cities in the country, as well as a proper balance of initiatives directly promoted by the embassy and
those we organize in cooperation with local associations and prominent individuals. In this regard, besides the interactive exhibition on Italian folk traditions which will be open until October 18 at the
Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, we will have the already customary Week of the Italian Language, from October 14 to 20 at the universities in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar,
the Week of Italian Cinema, from November 5 to 9 in cinemas and cultural centers throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Week of Italian Cuisine from November 18 to 24.

Alongside this, the embassy supports and will continue to support the participation of Italian artists in events such as the Street Arts Festival in Mostar, which ended on September 9, the International Literary Festival in Zenica, which will be held on September 26 and 27, the MESS International Theatre Festival at the beginning of October, the comic festivals "Mostrip" in Mostar and "Deveta dimenzija" in Banja Luka, both of which will be held from October 4 to 6. On October 30, we will also have a one-day presentation of Italian universities, which we organize in cooperation with "Via Academica".

The most important event of this edition of the Season of Italian Culture 2019 is the organization of a seminar in Sarajevo, on November 28 and 29, with which we will celebrate the 155th anniversary of diplomatic relations between
Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina, established on June 20, 1863, with the opening of the first General Consulate of the Kingdom of Italy, headed by Consul Cesare Durando. This event
we organize in cooperation with the prestigious Italian study center Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso, and is conceived as a series of panels discussing various aspects of
Italian-Bosnian and Herzegovinian relations, with the presence of prominent figures from the spheres of politics, analysts, university professors and representatives of Italian, local and international associations.
On this occasion, a book on 155 years of bilateral diplomatic relations will be presented, consisting of materials diligently collected by Italian and Bosnian and Herzegovinian experts in this field, it was announced.
